Who the hell are The Young Punx?
“I
love The Young Punx. I’m a big fan”
– Fatboy Slim
“One of the hottest remix teams around and Future Superstars”
– Galaxy FM
“Brilliant” – Judge Jules
“My latest discoveries” – Annie Nightingale
The Young Punx are a London-based collective of eclectic
electronic musicans, headed up by multi-instrumentalist producer
Hal Ritson. Over the past few years they have firmly established
themselves as the new darlings of UK dance music, with many of the
world’s top DJs championing their records and over 100 BBC
Radio 1 plays to date. The punx are at the forefront of the UK dance
scene, and their cheeky pop culture mentality has seen them catch
the headlines in mainstream media as diverse as The Sun, The Mirror,
La Stampa, Radio 4
news and even BBC 2 Newsnight!
Their debut album - "Your music is killing me"
- is currently on release in the UK, USA and Japan, with further
countries coming soon. Their fresh and energetic sound that they
term "Mashpop and punkstep" is the natural next step in
the evolution of mashup music - fusing elements of house, electro,
breaks and drum and bass with an eclectic soundclash of popular
culture references, rock, disco, 80s pop, classical and jazz to
create something at once original and resolutely accessible.
Performed entirely by the band and their guests (no audio
samples) with a wry sense of humour and pop art sensibility, the
album features tracks such as the shipping forecast quoting "Rockall",
cosmetic surgery sideswipe ‘Young And Beautiful’ and
surfer breaks ‘You’ve got to...’ which is featured
on the FIFA '07 EA computer game.
REMIXES
The Young Punx are among the most in demand remixers in the UK. They
have remixed artists such as Chicane and Tom Jones, Scissor Sisters,
Hound dogs, Dario G, Tina Turner, Space Cowboy and many more. The
Young Punx created the lead radio mix for Studio B’s “C’mon
Get it On” which spent several weeks on the Radio 1 Playlist
and charted top 30 in May 06. Their radical motown-meets-house overhaul
of the classic Delacey "Hideaway" has gained a reputation
as one of the most daring and enjoyable remixes of recent years, and
most recently their mix of Norman Cook's "Mighty Dub Katz - Magic
Carpet Ride" hit number 1 in the UK club charts. [sound clips]

of 2007 and 2008 included performing at the Glastonbury Festival,
